Procedure nurses and surgical assistants work directly and only in the operating rooms and see first hand the skills and personality of a physician while patients are asleep. They have a unique perspective as they work with many different physicians in this setting. They are however not reachable by patients as they work outside the clinic space and doctor’s office.
So we bring them to you..

𝗪𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐲𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐬? This is essentially endometriosis of the uterus. The lining called the endometrium thickens and grows into the muscle of the uterus. As the condition worsens the uterus gets larger and cysts start forming in the uterine tissues as shown on the MRI.

MRI of a patient with painful and heavy cycles 👉The adenomyosis caused a 𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐭 portion of her symptoms but was 𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐝 by both the prior ultrasound and the MRI report.
MRI images were reviewed by Dr Allaei who treated both the fibroids and adenomyosis with the non-surgical uterine artery embolization 🌟 3 month later the patient had normal cycles and did not need surgery 👏🏼
𝗪𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐠𝐧𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐬?
🌟If the patient went for fibroid surgery, the surgeon would not have been able to remove the adenomyosis. The patient would have been left with significant symptoms and after failed surgery may have elected for hysterectomy.
🌟If the patient had embolization for fibroids and not the adenomyosis, the results would have been suboptimal.
𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐟𝐢𝐛𝐫𝐨𝐢𝐝𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐲𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐬 𝐛𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐔𝐀𝐄? Yes! However this requires the proper diagnosis so that the right size particles can be used.

Prostate artery embolization or PAE is an innovative impactful procedure performed only by Vascular and Interventional Radiologist for enlarged prostate symptoms and/or hematuria, blood in urine. 𝗪𝐡𝐨 𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐧𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞? Anyone that has a prostate!
⭐️ How does embolization shrink tissue? Embolization removes blood flow from tissue. Just like how plants die without water, it is the same with tissues and organs that rely on blood flow.
Microparticles are placed into the prostate artery which flow into the prostate tissue blocking the blood flow. This causes the prostate to shrink in size and improve symptoms.
💡In 2018 the UK-NIH concluded that PAE is safe and effective to provide to patients with BPH: “The safety profile and quicker return to normal activities may be seen as highly beneficial by patients considering PAE as an alternative treatment to TURP … place of PAE in the care pathway is between that of drugs and surgery.”
💡Clinical success was reported as 85.1% at short-term follow-up (12 months), 81.9% at medium-term follow-up (1-3 years), and 76.3% at long-term follow-up (3–6.5 years). The treatment is now FDA approved and currently covered by some insurance companies.

Patient experience at the CVI California Thyroid Center. Follow our patient from the consultation, to the procedure and follow up from the Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) of a high risk thyroid nodule.
This patient had a nodule in the middle of the neck, lying on top of the breathing tube, called the trachea. RFA on this type of nodule is high risk due to the potential in damaging the trachea. The heat can melt the structure leaving a hole, requiring a breathing tube and corrective surgeries.
👨🏻⚕️This treatment was performed by our advanced image-guided specialist that is trained in both ablation and thyroid embolization, and performs over 2000 ultrasound procedures yearly.
👨🏻⚕️ Dr Allaei is trained in advanced technique to treat complex nodules to minimize risks.
🩺 Our doctor’s wide experience in ultrasound guided procedures as well as his skill set allows him to do complex high risks thyroid nodules safely.
🩺Successful outcome requires skill and experience in visualizing the thyroid in 3D while watching a 2D ultrasound image during the ablation 👨🏽⚕️Our Double Board Certified MD is specifically trained in ablation of soft tissue and bony tumors.
RFA is an outpatient non-surgical treatment for benign thyroid nodules. This innovative treatment is performed in our office with local numbing medication and is well tolerated. Patients walk out of the office with just a Band-Aid.
